What is Translation Management?

Today's need for translation is usually not limited to a simple transfer of text from one language into another. Moreover, all product components, such as software, documentation, and online help systems must be made available for people from all language areas with the same degree of usability. This is especially true for web presences of companies, since the Internet in particular enables companies to present their products or services globally.

In this context, Translation Management comprises the following three areas: Consulting, Technical Translation, Localization

Consulting

A product is to be placed on the global market, but none of your project managers have the time to administer translation and localization. If desired, a project can be managed completely or in part. Take advantage of our experience in all aspects of this service:

Analysis of actual translation needs, also on-site, if necessary

Preparation of solutions with regard to individual client requirements

Request external quotations (from freelancers to global localization providers), training of employees, if required

If desired, full project management (also on-site)

Technical Translation

Technical Translation deals with the linguistic transfer of documentation, online help systems and web pages. Depending on the amount and the required language combinations, translation is carried out directly or by appropriate partners.

Very good text quality due to linguistic and technical competence

Years of experience in several technical fields: hardware and software, telecommunications, mechanical and electrical engineering

Processing of numerous file formats: Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Adobe Framemaker, PDF, HTML, XML, SGML

Translation of all accompanying graphics, e.g. using Adobe Photoshop

Knowledge of all standard help systems: Robohelp, ForeHelp, RTF, Compiled HTML

Layouts are maintained during translation or can be re-created in an additional DTP step

Use of translation memory systems

Localization

Localization is the linguistic transfer of software, i.e. user interface, error messages, and installers. You can depend upon the following services:

Processing of numerous formats: EXE, DLL, RC, script files

Localization of all accompanying grapics, e.g. using Adobe Photoshop

Knowledge of all standard localization tools: RC WinTrans, Catalyst, Passolo

Complete resizing of dialog boxes in accordance with your interface guidelines

Use of translation memory systems

Use of verification tools: HelpQA, HtmlQA

Linguistic testing of localized versions

The localization process can start before the release version of a software is available. Fuctional testing including internal bug tracking can also be provided
